What's up all? I know we're involved in Tux's Grand-Am GT series though if anyone else has an idea for a series they'd like to host, message Simcik or myself if you desire a separate forum header. Stalker suggested this move on forzamotorsport.net and Simcik initially set up this forum for the American Iron series but check this out, "Hello -elloooo -ellooo -elloo -ello" See? It's a big place. We have room to stretch out and expand a bit.

Oh and Im partial to a NASCAR series... After the absolutely, painfully annoying lag issue I had with my interwebs provider the other night drafting with Avanti I called em up to bitch. So now I have a free upgraded docsis 3.0 modem with 20mbps speed. LET THE BUMP DRAFTING CLEANLY AND EXPERTLY COMMENCE! I swear if I lag now Im gonna be famous for throwing a tirade at the Comcast office

Tux had the thought of a Euro DTM Touring Car series with the Merc, Audi(any of the 8734 to choose from) or the Opel Astra. And I thought if not those then maybe some Aussie V8 Touring Cars would be cool too. Getting the cars real spec and just letting us all have at it behind the wheel more than trying to tune to an advantage. Still would be plenty of tuning but its all on a even platform. I like the variety of our AI and Rolex series alot but Ive never been apart of a Spec series so been curious how that would play out. All in all though I just like to go fast with a big V8, V10 or even a V12.

I know that Smus is working on a Continental ST 4banger series right now as well. I was testing with him earlier in the week and we thought it would be fun to do a front wheel drive only rule so it would be Neons, Focus, Chevy, Jap cars and a Euro car or two I think as well like the Golf. Man it was wild! Trying to predict the torque steer as the front end fights a few hundred hp and steering while it seems to float all over could be cool.

Yep, ive been working on that, trying to replicate the ST class of the Continential tire series. Also playing around eith some Under 2 Liter Trans am cars...all pretty close using a 10-1 hp/lbs ratio, but running stock tires with only sport suspension upgrades so the cars like to slide a fair amount.

Well, if anyone needs any testing done, let me know. I'm sure others will help as well. The more data and lap times you gather, the closer it should be.

Unless you consider adding a Ruf...

Or a newer Viper...

Or a 458...

Don't forget the Kia Forte Koup... and the MX-5 is in the ST class but they're RWD so that counts them out

Right but in initial testing with Smus I found that making the cars competitive from track to track was looking to be a daunting task... maybe not an unobtainable goal but the idea that everyone has a front/front car will make it so much easier to match cars up so that we dont end up with a RX8 in the series( Sorry to call out a car of yours Tux but you know what I mean and we all know that you did everything in your power to make that car work but the games settings screwed you out of that car being competitive and Avanti is showing just how awesome of a driver he is by how well hes raced that car this season so far) but I feel that with the MX5 and other rear wheel option cars or in the Soobies case a AWD car just compounds the platform spec adjustments needed to insure the cars are fair. It shows that Continental, ALMS, Rolex and WEC really do their homework when they homologate a car into each series. Like at Leguna having a Corvette, Aston, BMW, and 458 all running nose to tail and really highlighting the drivers skill over the cars advantage because the series took so much time testing and adding or taking away to even the cars out. Its hard to do and I commend those like Smus and Tux and Avanti for taking on the workload as stewards because its not easy but when done its freakin appreciated by all of us

To use AWD cars couldn't you just transfer all the power to front wheels? Like there's an option for that right? Because I don't mess around with the differential settings on my AWD cars so I wouldn't really know

You're correct, there is an option for the drive bias. With our group I'd imagine we'd all be good to say we have the drive bias 100% front and abide by it. That may not hold true if we added other racers. Some of those AWD cars can swap to a FF layout and then the P.I. reflects that change. It's up to the steward(s) to make that decision though.

I was toying with the idea of a V8 Supercar series but lack the time and energy to do much else other than toy with ideas. They do have the Ford Falcon and another car that are the main 2 cars in supercar series's's's but been working more than ever, with tighter deadlines than ever. Sleep

I have one in mind but its similar to CMC. Its not real world, but just one I've wanted to do. Its more of a Pony-Car series, I don't want to restrict the year of cars, and want to make it to where any Camaro/Mustang/Firebird/Challenger can be used. Even the Javelin could be used. I would want to keep the cars as even as I could, but I see how this would be a challenge.

Why not just use the same rules as American Iron but say only pony car models?

Quite some time ago (Forza 3) Tux and I had similar thoughts; Spec Miata. We went so far to build chassis and compare notes but didn't do anything beyond that. Someone may be able to twist our arms to get that fired up again. Or if someone else wants to head it- ask for our info and we should be able to hand over the reins.

For sure! I would love to assist anyone who is looking to run their own series. And definitely don't rule out spec Miata. They make for great racing!

Along the lines of Spec Miata racing.... what about something like an STi vs Evo series... or even an AWD drive series like STi vs Evo vs A4/S4 vs TT vs Golf R vs Legacy type deal (I suppose you could throw in the S5 and 6, maybe even the Fusion, if you really wanted)

...or a true spec series like Spec Golfs or something

Just a few ideas that were rattling around my otherwise empty head

Or why not do an ALMS series? After all Forza is the official racing game of ALMS. Even though they don't even have anywhere near all the GT or P cars...

You know I'm game for an ALMS series! Plus, the cars are already built.

I'd love another spec Miata series. It was either that or the spec Focus series in Forza 2 that got me in with a few of you guys. The spec series's's's's are more fun I think because the cars are all identical. I'd almost like to run a spec Miata series but with limited tuning possibilities. Like, sport suspension and transmission. Something like that. But again, lack of time and energy. I just put in the longest week ever at this job, and I can only assume it's done. There might be an emergency call and I could have to work all weekend, who knows.

It could work that way. I would have to mess around with the vehicles a bit though. Have to find the time as well.
