I'm being super cheap on this one, I got some early 90's eclipse bucket seats for $50 from a friend.  I'll probably use the drivers seat for the rig since it has lumbar support.  I just need to go to the hardware store and put it together since Tux has already done all the hard work in designing it!  Now if only I didn't have to move in less than a month...

Heck yeah brotha!!!  I almost went that route with used seats.  A great idea.  Are they manual or electric?

All manual.  I was hoping to find one that had a tilt adjustment too but no such luck.  I'll take the adjustable lumbar in it's wake though!

Out of curiosity why did you go for a new seat?

At first I spotted some old Honda Prelude seats that looked in good shape, but the guy sold them.  Then, I started looking around and thinking about it, and I decided that a brand new seat for the price I paid was the way to go.  I liked the look, functionality, and mounting options.  I also got to pick the color.

Ok, yallzes with triple screens, how the hell do you get the trips to work in iRacing? I got a triple screen setup working just fine on 1 monitor, but assuming I have 3, is there a recommended program? I've read there are a few, but I don't fully understand what I'm reading. Pain pills and fuzzy thinking and all.

Do you have the three monitors hooked up and working yet?  If so, what does your iRacing screen look like?

I do. And the picture in the sim is only on my center monitor, but it's in thirds like it wants to be triples.

What does your desktop look like?  Explain the tool bar layout.

Desktop is fine, the center monitor acts like a normal monitor but then I have the advantage of dragging stuff to the side monitors if needed. Resolution in iRacing is set at something like 5470x1080 or whatever the 1920 is times 3.

Rem, what's you FOV set to? You may need to expand it.

All the numbers in the graphics setting are accurate, without looking my FOV is something like 128 I think? But the distance from monitor, and angles for the triples are accurate. I'm probably going to have to try some program or something this weekend. I just want to race!

Does your toolbar stretch all the way across the bottom of all three monitors?  So, the start button would be all the way on the lower left, then the time and date would be on the lower right of the right monitor?

No. The side monitors are just there, the background is on them and I can drag stuff to them, but that's about it. They're useful if I have them on, but I only fire them up if I am doing multiple things or if I am doing iRacing (which has not yet worked ).

I may have found the problem. I'm running a pair of GeForce 9800GT cards, in SLI, but evidently they don't support triple monitor gaming or anything. They support my 3 monitors, but not as wraparound. Crap.

Thank you Sim, I will have to look into this more when I'm more conscious. If that ever happens. Maybe the problem was that I didn't re-download the drivers with all 3 monitors hooked up. So many problems with everything lately. For example, last night I went to the bathroom, came back, and the display on my speaker box sub thing is shot. Luckily I gotiti for black Friday, so I have that going for me.

Tux, can you post your graphics settings in iRacing for me? I still can't get iRacing on 3 screens. Evil or Very Mad

Rem, it might help if you understand my setup.  I'm running one video card that is a Radeon HD 6950.  It's an AMD card that can run triple monitor ONLY if used with an active display port adapter, which I use.  Each of my monitors have a VGA, DVI, and HDMI connection.  The video card itself has two DVIs and one display port.  I interface my monitors to the video card using the DVIs on all three monitors except one of them plugs into the active adapter that uses the display port on the card.  From there, I use the video card management software, in my case AMD Vision Control center to control the setup.  I've configured my screens to one large desktop which is 5760x1080 resolution.  In iRacing, I set my resolution to 5760x1080x32 and I don't render each screen separately.  From there, I simply made driver view adjustments with hotkeys until I liked the view.

Your setup may not be the same as mine so it may not apply.  You are using two video cards right?

Yes, 2 video cards, all with DVI connection to the monitor. There is no option for 5760x1080, even with the most updated drivers available. No option for wraparound either, which is what I read that I'm supposed to have to make it work. I may just get a new card (or 2 since I have no idea what the active thingy is) and go from there.

I believe the NVIDIA cards can't run trips unless you have two cards, which you do.  I don't know how to set that up because I've never done it.  That's one of the reasons I went with an AMD card because I knew all I needed was an adapter.  This is what it is.  Cheap and effective.  I'm also unfamiliar with the software used to setup your monitors.

Thank you Tux, I will look into this sometime soon. Just a zombie today, any of my Facebook friends will know why. As an effort to be fair, could  a moderator move my posts, and the replying posts to a separate thread? This thread started as a sim rig beginnings and turned into a "Hardware sucks" thread. Sorry, just got to thinking about this and I'm not a mod so yeah.  Neutral

Hey I dunno if this helps any but I've got a single nvdia gtx670 card, it runs 3 monitors flawlessly. Occasionally plug in a 4th for the hell of it. The Nvidia software to run thriple monitors is really easy. So easy I figured it out all by myself with out my nerd friends helping me out Smile

Ps. How the hell do I change it in this forum so everything in the typing screen isn't flippin white? Razz
