My first iRacing series will be in the Mazda MX-5 Cup car.  It looks like Friday nights will work for some people I've talked to so far.  Let's use this thread to get everyone on the same page.

I'm proposing a 12-week series with a few breaks that runs on Friday nights at 9PM EST.  I will try to also host a private practice session on some other night, perhaps a weeknight.  Please let me know if this day and time absolutely won't work for you.  Also, this will interfere with Avanti's AI series so keep that in mind.  I would like the races to be 40 minutes long.

We will run on one, possibly two, oval tracks in this series.  If the majority wants two, it will happen.  I want two.

Also, it appears that you will need some purchased content.  If we select two oval races, then you will need 6 more tracks that weren't included (to be announced).

Please, let me know if you're interested, if the proposed time and day works, and give me input on the oval track idea.  I may start this within a few weeks so I'd like to get things worked out soon.  Thanks!  Hope to see you all on the track!

Sounds like fun to me Tux.  I couldn't tell you what nights will work.  My schedule is up in the air at this point.

Agreed.   I put a vote in for 2 ovals as  Lanier Speedway and Oxford Plains.  (i love me some short track racing).
I picked those because they are some of the ovals that come free.

Sorry to disappoint you Joshy, but USA Speedway and Thompson will be the ovals.  They too, are free......and better.  Laughing     Oxford Plains.....Rolling Eyes

*Edit: You know, I might give Lanier a look.  USA is a definite, but if you guys really would rather Lanier, I might consider it.  I think the MX-5 is better suited to Thompson though.

At least with Oxford we can hit the hills and jump the ever-loving piss out of the cars. Not that I've done that at the end of practice or anything Twisted Evil

Ok guys, I think we're going to stick with the Friday night 9 PM EST race.  Sorry to those of you that can't make every race, but this seems to work best for the majority.  More to follow, keep your eyes on this forum section.  Oh, and we will do two ovals.

Ok guys.  We're much closer to the point where I can start to round up some more drivers for this series.  I would like to start this up in about 3 weeks if possible.  Here's where we're at: I've completed an official rules page.  I need you guys to look it over and let me know if something is unclear or if I missed something.

http://www.filedropper.com/mx-5cupseriesrulespdf_2

I have the days/times listed in the above link.  Now for the tracks.
Ovals: USA International Speedway, Thompson Speedway

Definite Road Courses: Daytona Short (night), Lime Rock, Mazda Raceway, Okayama Long, Summit Point, Road Atlanta (short or long?)

Undecided Road Courses: Watkins Glen Boot, VIR Full Course, Mid-Ohio Full Course, Road America, Sonoma Road Course, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve

As you can see, that's 14 tracks.  We need it down to 12.  The two oval tracks and first six road courses are in.  I tried to include as much original content as I could.  If there's a track that I didn't mention let me know.  I'm trying to keep this to mostly North American, MX-5 appropriate tracks.  Tracks like Spa and Suzuka I probably won't choose over one of the six undecided tracks that I listed.

Try to get back to me soon guys.  Thanks!  I'm getting excited!

Well I don't have the Gilley Villenview track or the HIVIR track, so I'd vote to drop those. But that's just me. Will read the rules in the morning when I'm more not sleeping.

May I suggest custom weather settings?   Such as Daytona.   make it hot, muggy, and slightly windy.   like Daytona Very Happy

Absolutely. I already planned on doing random, yet accurate weather. And, for the record, Daytona is a night race!
