This is the shot that shut down the Buccaneer game Sunday:

Sunny Florida 7976378521_d9f8cf0e17

Equipment update: I've had (2) PS3's, (2) Routers, (3) TV's, (2) DVD Players, (1) Guinea Pig, (2) Microwaves, and a Refrigerator taken out by lightning in the past four years. Oh and that big ass oak in the back yard took a hit.
(FYI: All equipment and appliances were plugged into serge protectors, but not the rat or the tree)

I'm laughing, but that's because I hope you didn't lose a loved pet. Aside from that, that sucks, any way of fixing that stuff? I know a friend of mine was telling me that when the power company dropped a live line onto another live line it sent some 10k volts through their appliances and electronics. $12k worth of electronics the power company paid for, and my buddy's dad replaced fuses and other internals and brought them right back to life.

Wife's fat Guinea Pig, we think it's cage was zapped. Not losing sleep over the fuzzy freak of nature, it made strange noises at night and my dog kept sizing it up for lunch, so it's days on Earth were limited either way.

Florida Power will cover up to a certain percentage of the loss, depending on the age of the appliance/equipment, if you have a surge protector issued and installed by them. After miles of paper work and oceans of ink signing your life away, my guess is we recouped about half of the losses over the years.
