Rotary Hell

Post  Avanti 63r1025 on Sun Apr 08, 2012 5:08 am

My NASA friends found this on YouTube a number of years ago.
I remembered its title recently and wanted to share.

Wankel engines are usually known for ↓ this problem.

Push in too much boost and the apex seals leave.
Apex seals are a rotary equivalent to piston rings.

My guess would be "For shits-n-giggles" as I don't know their real reason. I think it was akin to the old problem of a printer running out of ink; cheaper to buy a new printer than to buy new ink.
