Mustang is faster, Camaro handles better. Its kind of been that way for a while, except for that period in the early to late 90's when Mustangs had damn near no pwer.

But I personally would not buy a Shelby to go around corners, thats what the Boss is for. It seems like Ford and GM have the Mustang and Camaro on oddly different levels.

The base V6 cars compare well. The GT and SS compare well.

The Boss 302 is on its own level I think; it out handles the ZL1, but its down 140 HP, and doesn't reflect its abilities in lap times with the ZL1. There needs to be a Z/28 with similar power and handling to compete on the same level as the Boss.

I also think the GT500 is on its own level. It shames the ZL1 with much more power, but the Zl1 out handles it. If GM gave the ZL1 more power, than I think it would be more even.

Ford still doesn't use an IRS. But thats mostly because the Mustang crowd doesn't want it.

Rumor is the next Gen mustang will be IRS...so that'll change things. I do wish Chevy would have brought up the Z28 nameplate.

Then theres my good ol beloved Mopar with their addiction catching up to the Camaro and Mustang just as the Camaro and Mustang take things up a level again and the Challenger once again seems a bit behind. Man I wish Dodge had a legit SRT8 offering that could keep up with the GT500 or ZL1. Oh well, atleast the Viper will always kick the Vettes ass, yea suck it Tux!

We'll see about that Squid. It's difficult to kick the ZR-1's ass. If the Viper is faster at all, it will be tough to quantify from the sounds of it.

Whoa there Tux, talk about freaking out and flyin off the handle. Gosh I was just injecting a bit of playful banter but it seems that the humor went over your head and was lost causing you to lash out irrationally. Calm down.... Its ok lil fella. Daddys got ya. As angry as your post was I am left wondering if Ill be in need of a new bumper to plow???

Speaking of Vipers and Vettes. Ive been wanting to test some builds on the #11 Primetime GT2 Viper Competition Coupe to even the playing field between it and the Porsche, Vette, Jag, Bimmer, 458, and Lambo ALMS GT2s. Id like to bring the older Bimmer up to snuff as well with a bit of build tweaking to allow a fun and varied GT2 series. That or a 80s-90s ST and GT club sport series that would allow both a B class and a S class multi field that has cars of that era from US, Europe, and Japan to allow a wide variety to choose from.

Im gonna tinker tonight after the Michigan race which has been rather epic to watch although sad that Harvick has gone from 2nd to the 15-20th range and stayed there. Jimmie has roared up to around 15th and hovered there as well but freakin sweet to see Jr out front! He is lookin stout!

I'm interested to see what fiat's solution is for adding the now required traction control system to the viper. I've always appreciated that the viper never had such amenities. I've also appreciated it burning off the skin on my calves every time I get out of it... Sad

Its easy to turn it off. I watched a video on I think Car and Driver where it just takes pressing and holding a button in on the center console for a few seconds or so. Yea the Viper was always a nod to the Cobra 427. All balls and no apologies.

To those bringing up the Z28 trim: Hell yes! G.M. brass need to pull the trigger. They need to drop the displacement to 302 and use the appearance of the first badge, "Z/28."

I'd like to see Mopar drop a 5L in the Challenger too. Of course, for all of this rampant dropping of displacement, manufacturers should also focus on pulling more weight out of these damn chassis. I'm more happy with 3000 pound cars producing 375 horsepower than I am with 4600 pound cars producing 610 horsepower.

Noteworthy: They're not pony cars so much anymore as they are overweight fucking moose cars. T/A today should be called the Bullwinkle series.

Yea especially the fattest of the fattys, Challenger. If Dodge would drop the materials down and get it to a 3000 or so weight the 5.7 liter hemi could be put on a diet ala aluminum and composites along with a modest 18in rim size instead of these retarded 20-22in rims everyone seems to be going with nowadays and I bet that Dodge would be tough to beat but sadly its closer to 4000 and huge rims. I think the ZL1 and Boss 302 are a step in the right direction and hopefully we will see enough demand to garner even more focus and attention towards track day builds. Like a Z/28 and T/A car to compete with the Boss. Would be so cool.
