SEAT Leon Supercup series Empty SEAT Leon Supercup series

Post  Smus Thu May 24, 2012 2:07 pm

I figured running a spec series might be fun, so just wondering who might be interested in running?

Pretty simple setup, the SEAT Leon is a Volkswagen Auto Group Group A chassis, shared with cars like the MkV and MkVI Jetta and Golf. This series is considered something like a developmental series for sportscar drivers.

The car we would use would be the Seat Leon Supercup, it is a factory built racer with fully adjustable suspension, aero, and a 1way dif.

Cars would be stock as purchased, liveries are up to you, just use the Forza road racing vinyl in a number box, i may look into making a design close to the actual design.

Short series, 6-8 races. Going with the different car would be different tracks or using alternate layouts.

Doing this on my phobe so more solid info tonight.

What is the PI of the SEAT anyways? Forza isn't in my xbox right now so I can't load it up immediately.

3.5 speed, all others in 6+ territory really a great handling car but not super fast.

Ok, well I've run the car on a good number of tracks, and I believe I've come up with a track list that will give us good variety and allow for a little bit different way to run the races.

1. I'm looking towards running a series of heat races. My current consideration includes running each heat race at around 20 minutes each. Qualifying will be before the race, not entirely sure on what to do for that.

2. Standing starts. I think the idea of a standing start would make things very interesting, keep everyone honest on starts (cant get a jump if the game wont let you), and the idea of cold tires into turn 1 sounds dangerous.

3. Reverse order on 2nd heats. No one likes running away with a race, and no one likes being 14 laps down while everyone is done and waiting for you to finish. So, to make things interesting, I am proposing a reversal of the starting grid based on the finishing order of the 1st heat.

4. Points will be given based on average position. Place 1st and 5th, then you'll get 3rd place overall, which might yield 1st place points. Ties would be broken by fastest lap time...if there would be a tie there as well, then 2nd race lap times will be taken into account. If there is yet again another tie...then the world is coming to and end, the Vikings win the Superbowl, and you'll get 1,000,000 points...or you both take the same place points...stewards decision.

The Car:
2007 SEAT Leon Supercup

Modifications-
Modifications may be allowed at the stewards discretion. If you are having issues, you just cant seem to tune the car to get it to work against the competition, then you may be allowed to add additional parts to increase competitiveness of your Supercup. However, the increase in power will be used only as a last resort. The only mod you can do without changing the PI is the race differential. I know it may be tempting to run it, but I'm asking this to keep it all so very simple, dont unless you feel you cant live without it. Message me and we can discuss it.

Rims-
Any rim that adds weight or is of equal weight to the stock rims is legal. The closest I've found to the stock weights are...

  • ATS Classic
  • BBS RE and RS-GT
  • Gemballa Turbo Sport
  • Gram Lights T57-RC
  • Hamann Edition Race
  • HRE 445R
  • Modulare M7
  • RacingHart J5 Pro
  • Rota Tarmac 3
  • Zender Challenge and Dynamic

I am leaning towards a short series of 6 or so. The track list I am looking at includes,
  • Catalunya National Circut
  • Iberian Internationa Circut Short
  • Indianapolis Grand Prix Circut
  • Nurburgring Grand Prix Short Circut
  • Suzuka West Circut

and one other that will either be a Mini track like Camino Mini, or a very long track, like LeMans or the Nurburgring Nordschlife. If the Nordschlife is selected, then another track will replace the Nurburgring Grand Prix Circut, either another European track like Hockenheim or Mugello, or an American Track like Road Atlanta or Infineon.

Races would be around mid-week, 8pm CST every other week.

Sounds fun! I like the idea of flipping the field with 2 heats. I always thought that car was the most fun on tight tracks.

I like just about everything there. Plus, if I can add weight with rims, I can run some of those DUB rims Shocked

Romped around in the car bone stock with only modifying downforce and the diff, and ran 2 seconds better than my AI Camaro's time at Indy. I love this car!

Hey everyone, i am going to be on vacation starting today. Heading out South Dakota way, so i wont be on. Im hoping after the trip to have stuff nailed down nearly 100% so we can get this going soon. So i will post up when ive got the tracks and times down for sure. I am thinking of opening it up to the Forza forums as well to gauge interest there as well.

Hope the ring is kind!

Definitely would be cool to toss it up on the forums! Its a gamble on what kind of personalities you will attract but I know I wouldnt know any of you guys at all had it not been for Avanti posting American Iron on the Forza forums and Its been such a blast goin fender to fender with ya'll and even bumper to bumper with one(You know who you are gurl Cool ) so getting a few more cool kids in here would be great but if we get more than that then we would have a room full and 17 racers. Id be the odd man out cause Im not cool enough.... Sad. I wonder if I can pick up some cool cream and a decent personality at Walmart on the cheap??? scratch Have a good vacation Smoose! So I assume you are heading to Mud Butt, S.D. Makes me giggle like a lil school girl everytime I see it on a map lol!

I'm down for any and all racing. I'm addicted to this game. Plus we have great group of guys. I race in the hoppers and the sportsmanship just sucks. Seems you have to worry more about who's behind you than working on chasing down the leaders. This group I can trust to be considerate and able to race door to door without being punted off the track. Count me in !!

I just gave the Leon a quick run. It'll be great fun. I'm down.

Could I just throw in that I think this car deserves shorter tracks. Yet short tracks that still have pits (just in case).

lol that's about it too... What I'd like to do (but can't afford the DLC) is run a Smart car series or Ford Transit Van series. Something a little different. What would be awesome is if the Smart car ha a different engine you can put in. Something along the lines of what I saw once on YouTube, put a Hyabusa (sp?) engine in it and make it rear wheel drive. They did that and had their Smart car drifting around light poles and fountains and such.
