I listen to the nightly radio program Coast-to-Coast AM and get some news reports from their site.
This site is alternative media- http://www.earthfiles.com/news.php?ID=1959&category=Environment
But for it to get attention from a reputed organization is something else- http://edition.cnn.com/2012/03/19/us/wisconsin-noises/index.html

This line from the Earthfiles report, "… Clintonville reported loud sounds that shook their homes and were compared to clanging metal, jackhammers and thunder" caught my eyes, especially the "and thunder" part. When the *ahem cough cough* Aurora *cough cough* was in flight test phases, people in the Los Angeles basin were calling news media outlets, police stations, and other such public works companies to report earthquakes. However, the U.S.G.S. denied earthquakes as the cause for the shaking. The U.S.A.F. (or anybody actually) never acknowledged "Aurora" so there was never any official word on this cause though it's hypothesized Aurora's sonic boom was causing houses to shake in the L.A. basin.

So what are the causes of the recent Wisconsin sounds? Nobody knows for sure at this time.

Okay, I think Aurora is real and we use it. We've been using it since atleast the retirement of the SR-71. But, that doesn't mean that is what was heard in WI.

It could been almost any fighter jet in our fleet. It could have been dry lightening. It could have been a train being coupled. Noise can carry very far under the right conditions.

Well not to say you dont know what youre talking about Sim but having first hand experience - I can say there is something to be argued about a F18 or JSF hitting mock and some of the Hyper jets hitting mock.... when they are hauling so much more mail to the sound barrier the sound produced is more dramatic then you might think. Same as when you slap a fat guys belly somewhat hard vs as hard as you can the sound is louder when you smash the fatty.

Hey I'm a drunk redneck, sweet!

Clintonville is 170 miles north of me so I didn't hear anything, could have been a Canadian marching band for all anyone knows. Those polite bastards...
