Twin Ring 150
Coming November 2013!
150 Miles (100 Laps) at Twin Ring Motegi Superspeedway.
Maximum of 14 Racers, leaving room for a spectator and a pace car in the race lobby.
Qualifying to be held before the race. (Possibly on a different day.) Everyone will qualify at the same event, in random order. Each driver will exit the pits, complete a lap then begin the first of their 2 qualifying laps, they will then complete a cool-down lap before returning to the pits.
The race will have at least 2 parade/warm-up laps before going green. Pace speed will be 60 MPH. There will be a pace car, so stay behind it. Also, this is VERY IMPORTANT, do not decide to turn into Cole Trickle and hit the Pace Car. This will eliminate your car from scoring in the race. (Seriously, don't do it.) Cautions will follow the FMROC guidelines, with the Pace Car coming out to lead the field during this period.
A Green-White-Checker rule will be implemented if needed, and there will be wave-arounds and lucky-dogs to keep the field on the lead lap.
At the conclusion of the race, the field will complete a cool-down lap, with all but the winner pulling to the pits. The winner will be free to celebrate for a little bit, before returning to the pits themselves.
This is as close to the real deal as Forza can get. Period.
More info to follow.

Re: Twin Ring 150
Qualifying:
Prior to the race, there will be a qualifying session. The qualifying session will consist of all the cars in the same session, with a race length of 6 laps. Of these 6 laps, only 2 will be counted for qualifying.
The race will begin with a random grid ordering and a 1 second roll-off delay. This is to ensure no contact occurs to any of the cars. All cars will procede at pit speed (60 mph) around the track and enter the pits, staying in the random starting order assigned by Forza. After entering the pits, the cars will procede to the far end of pit road before stopping - in this game mode, the pits will not be activated. You can drive through them at full speed - don't do that. This will complete Lap 1, and start Lap 2. After all the cars have come a stop at the far end of pit road, the first car will leave the pits and and accelerate to full speed once on the track - all other cars are to remain stopped on pit road. This lap (Lap 2) is to be used to get up to speed for your qualifying runs. The next two laps (Laps 3 and 4) are your qualifying runs. After completing Lap 4 and starting Lap 5, each car is to slow down and continue around the race track, once again entering the pits and pulling to the far end, stopping behind the other cars. This will complete Lap 5 and start Lap 6. When the first car has pulled into the pits at the end of Lap 5, the next car in line will continue their second lap. The session will procede like this until all cars have completed qualifiying, at which point all cars will procede around the track to complete Lap 6 and end the qualifying session.
Please note, it is intended that collisions will be left on during this session. Please be aware of this.
Prerace:
Prior to the race, all players will meet in the lobby. A quick recap of the rules will be covered, and questions can be asked. This is the final driver's meeting. If you don't know something by now, you need to ask. There will be two groups/buckets for the race, one for the Pace Car, and one for the racers. Final checks will be made, builds verified, and the race will be launched. There will also be a spectator present. The spectator and the pace car driver will act as officals for the event, helping to monitor restarts and call cautions. They will be introduced, as their voices and gamer tags will need to be known.
Once on the track, the Pace Car will start at the front of the field with a several second delay. DO NOT MAKE CONTACT WITH THE PACE CAR. Each car will then procede with a small roll-off delay. This will start the first of at least two parade laps. If changes in the starting order need to be made, they will be done. The field will pace at 60 mph around the track, staying single-file until the middle of the back stretch on the one-to-go lap, at which point the field will line up double-file. If for some reason the field does not get set, the restart may be waved off. If the field is set, the Pace Car will enter the pits in Turn 4, and the leader will have control of the field. The starting line for the leader will be anytime after the start of pit wall. If the leader does not start before the start/finish line, the race will go green. The leader will get lane choice, Row 2 and back will line up with odd positions on the inside, and evens on the outside.
The Race:
During the race, there will be Cautions. A Caution can only OFFICIALLY be called by the Race Officials. That being said, drivers may bring attention to an event that needs a Caution. A Caution could be a single car accident where the car obstructs the race track. It would most definitely be an accident involving more than one car. When a Caution is called, the field is to slow to pace speed and form up behind the Pace Car. If the Pace Car gets out in front of a car that is behind the leader, that driver is NOT ALLOWED to pass the Pace Car. Once the field is grouped, drivers caught behind the pace car will be given a wave-around to rejoin the back of the field. Pit road will NOT BE OPEN until these drivers have been waved around and rejoined the group. Furthermore, when the pits do open, any cars that are have been lapped may choose to take a wave around and not pit. Wave around cars will be allowed to pit at the end of their wave-around lap and then rejoin the group at the back. Just like in real racing, if you are beat off of pit road, you're beat. If Forza takes a position away from you, consider it a bad pit stop and move on.
I expect the racing to be tight. Contact will be allowed, but remember, we will be racing with simulation damage on. These cars will take a little beating and banging, but they're not invincible. Furthermore, if an Official sees INTENTIONAL CONTACT that results in a major wreck, they MAY CHOOSE to penalize the driver at fault with a pass-through penalty. Race, rub, bump, etc., but don't turn this into a demolition derby.
Postrace:
At the conclusion of the race, all cars will procede around the track for a cool-down lap. This is not to be done at full speed. All racers except the winner are to enter pit lane and procede to the far end, similar to Qualifying. The winner may procede to the front stretch for a burnout to celebrate. Keep it short and sweet. At the end of the celebration, the winner will also enter the pits (they may go backwards if they wish) and meet up with the other racers.
This will conclude the racing portion of the event. At this time, the Pace Car driver will quit out of the session. This will end the race immediately, with all other drivers getting credit for completing the race. This is slightly different than previously discussed, but as to ensure that the pits work, this new strategy will be implemented.

So far so good, but I've still got some more work to do on it. I think I can make it work.ROSCOEpCOTRAIN wrote:Any progress with the GTO?
Re: Twin Ring 150
The GTO is IN! Still working on the others.
ALSO, big update to the tunes:
All cars will now be running "Drag" tires, instead of race tires. This has lowered the PI's significantly, but improved grip and will give us more tire wear. I also tweaked the suspension tuning on all the cars. At this point, the GSX and 442 have not been updated, so the info listed for them is incorrect. New tunes for all the cars (including any additional cars that are ready) will be on the storefronttomorrow (10.8.13) evening soon.
Man, these cars stick and are withing hundreths of each other. Should be a fun, fun race!
Also, if you know you want to race, go ahead and say so here. Depending on how many racers we get here and from the other forums/leagues, I may put an ad on the main forums. I don't need to know a car yet, or a number, just your name. If you know the car or number, you may tell me and I will go ahead and reserve them for you.

Announcing the Official Pace Car for the Twin Ring 150:
It took a while to recreate the logo in Forza, but I think it looks great!
Now, who's going to drive this?

DeadMoney, welcome to the group!
Send me a friend request and I will gift you the Viper. Also, make sure to jump in with us for some testing!

All others,
We did some long-run testing last night. Looks like we'll burn off the tires pretty quickly, so there will be necessary pit stops. Where is up to, choose your own strategy, but you WILL need to stop for tires.

How/Why will I have to stop for tires if I am the pace car?

I was messin' around in the paint booth last night:
What do y'all think? Not sure it'll be my final scheme, but I like the idea and I think it looks authentic.
