The Builds Revealed - Page 3 Empty Re: The Builds Revealed

I got the Cortina, thank you!!!  I don't know if you sent me any of the other ones but I'll check later.  I am getting ready for my son's piano recital in a bit.  But obviously the Cortina is faster now.  I see you gave it more power.   I don't know how much faster it is, I thought I had more times logged in my book for it, but now I don't see them.  The first drive I got a 2:40.0 at Road America with it which I'm pretty sure was faster than what I got before with it.  And that was only 3 seconds behind my best time with the Escort with the previous build.  I'm interested to see if that has gotten slower or you left it alone.  Because I felt the Beemer and the Escort were definitely faster than the rest of them.  But I'm sure I can probably shave some time off with this car because I was probably taking the corners slower than it can handle.  I think the Cortina handles really well.

Interesting note on the tire pressures.  I'm assuming we can still change them and the final drive and the aero.  I'll leave them as is for now for testing though.  Most of the tracks I use for testing those tire pressures are probably fine.  But if I go to Laguna I might want to let some out.

I didn't even know you could give me just the tune and it would actually change the build when I download in my upgrade section.  That was cool.

I did some testing last night, mostly at sunset.  These are the times I got.  I only drove the Mustang a little and not the 70 Camaro yet.

65 Mustang: 1:48.7  (I definitely need to work on my O5U7 driving skills, but it definitely was faster and seem to handle a bit better with your tune)
Cortina: 1:53.5 was my best time, but I upped the final drive to 3.57
Escort: 1:52.5
Pinto: 1:55.3

You had the gears taller than I was used to on the Pinto and Escort.  I was hitting 4th at the end of those two shorter straights in the infield, whereas I usually had my cars geared at the top of 3rd there.  But it worked well for acceleration, but might take off some top speed.  Especially at Atlanta.  The Cortina was geared a little differently and I felt like upping them.  But 4th does seem kind of far away from 3rd, just like on the 70 Camaro.

Both the Cortina and Escort were about 121 Top speed or so, at the end of the oval, but I don't think the Pinto hit that.

I can't remember if I asked you this or not, but are you open to letting us run the U2T cars with you guys for the last two races?  I just like them better.  But either way is cool.  I was just asking.  I gotta run some hotlaps for 20 laps to make sure my eyeballs don't fall out after that long.  LOL.

I got a 2:32.9 w/ the 70 Camaro at Road America.  And deeps again sent me the Chapparal paint he made.  It's awesome.  I gotta learn how to download pics.
I got a 2:33.2 w/ the 65 Stang.
I got a 2:40.8 w/ the escort.  Which no kidding I got a better time with the Cortina yesterday at Road America.  You DO have these things closer together now.  Interesting.  Because I felt I was driving the Escort pretty well.  I must've really been driving the Cortina well.  I don't know.  You guys probably get better times than I do.  But this is FUN!!!

Oh yeah, heavens. Don't use the default tunes loaded on the cars for every track. That's one reason why I gifted them to you, so you could make the car right for a variety of conditions. The tracks I was testing were short tracks: Iberian Full-R and Tsukuba. I figure if I can keep a gap between classes on short tracks, "cross contamination" (lead U2T cars racing door-to-door with trailing O5U7 cars) shouldn't be an issue anywhere. That is, unless an O5U7 car gets banged up, which does happen.

In testing at said shorter tracks I was finding my fastest U2T cars still a touch off pace from my slower O5U7 cars. Under race conditions we'll have rolling starts with a small space between the two classes. O5 will lead, U2 will follow.

For the finish of season one, no U2T cars will be included; they weren't racing yet as I hadn't found a way to include all the cars I wanted to compete. I will however enable the O5U7 cars finishing the final races to equip the season two builds.

I didn't quite understand what your last sentence meant.  Does that mean the O5U7 cars will be the new build or the old build to finish the season?  I'll be looking forward to the 3rd season with a U2T car!!!!!  I could see how maybe the shorter courses will make for times closer with the bigger cars.

I ran at Road America quite a few laps with both the Escort and the Cortina last night and I'm kind of blown away about what you've done here.  I was wringing them out with all my abilities and they both posted 2:40.2 as their best lap time.  I kid you not.  They were both the same to the tenth of a second.  I didn't do that on purpose.  (I see that's the same time I posted yesterday too.  Just to clarify, this was a different practice session than that one)

I did use 3.77 gears on the Cortina.  The 3.60 gears you had on the tune still had a lot of 4th gear left at the end of the straights.  So.. I upped the numbers and I think it's quicker in take off and is a little under redline at the end of the main straight.  Beautiful.  The Escort I kept the gears you had.

And btw, thank you for giving me the tire pressures you did.  I see you have them staggered and I swear the cars all feel better to me than how I had them.  My rule of thumb was 29.5 for the tracks I've been practicing at.  (Elkhart, Atlanta, and Sunset).  But like the Camaro feels grippier, they all feel grippier with the tire pressures you had.  And they all seem to have a different front to back pressure.  And it seems to help each car.  Thank you thank you!!!  I'm not sure how you figured out how to do that for each car.  Because I think the camaro has lower in the front but I think one of them had lower in the back.  I forget.  I did up the pressure at Road America a 1/2 pound at times, I forget when, just to see.  Because it's hotter there.  Although I don't think I did when I ran those times I just posted.

So, you must be on to something here for leveling the field.  I'm not as confident about the Pinto though.  But I'll give it a go maybe today.  I gotta run the O5U7 cars some more too.  But they also seem closer.

Aaaah, you live on the dark side.  LOL

I got a 2:42.1 at Road America with the Pinto last night.  Admittedly though, I didn't run a lot of laps with it.  I'm not as enamored with it as some of the others.  It sounds like there's marbles in the engine.  LOL.  It is kind of a fun little car to drive though and I can probably shave some time off of that if I practice with it.

This doesn't have much to do with anything but when I was out and about yesterday I must've seen about 8 Challengers.  The new ones of course.  It's a good looking Pony car.  Kind of big and fat, but it is comfy to drive (friend has an R/T and let me drive it).  It's a good cruising car.  I would imagine it's fun on a track too.  But I wouldn't know.  The best looking one I saw yesterday I thought was a burgundy with 2 white racing stripes down the top of the side following the contour.  With and R/T at the rear.  It was sharp.

I'm not a Mopar guy, but I can respect them.  For what?  I don't know.  JUST KIDDING.

Those are the "R/T Classic" stripes, and are one of the best looks for those cars. And while I've not put one on a track, I've driven many of the on some back streets (used to sell them), and they are very, very fun. For most people, they've got more than enough power and handling capability, and the larger size is plus if you have a family. We sold a lot of them because of the back seat room alone. Mustang and Camaro can't compare from a practicality standpoint. It's road Mopar chose from the beginning, give up some performance (that most people never use anyway) for a little comfort and practicallity. Besides, all the older people who wanted a Challenger when they were younger, but have money now, can buy one and still have a place for their family to ride.

A 6-speed SRT is just about perfect in my books... (And I missed out on driving the 392, so I'm basing that on the old 6.1L, which isn't even close to the performance of the new 6.4L)

I agree.  We are not very big in my family though and when the kids are still kind of small, the Camaro is plenty roomy.  I'm not sure about the newer Mustangs.  I think when we sat in them they were fine.  My son is 13 and daughter is 10 and We're all kind of small.  So.....  But I agree, the Challenger seems like the way to go for practicality sake.  If I DID ever get to buy a Mustang, the kids would start to be cramped eventually.  I think.  We had a rental Camaro for a weekend once and my kids said they couldn't see out the back windows, so they didn't like that.  LOL.

Also, I got a 1:44.9 at Atlanta today with the new and improved Cortina.  I like it.  I wasn't too far behind my ghost of the previous BMW build.  Did Count of CV get any of the new updated cars?  We race together frequently and I was just curious.  I thought I'd hook up with him today, but I was on after him.  Darn.

Yes. You, Sim, and Count have [various] new builds.

Sent you the '68 Firebird Sim. Thanks for taking a branch out, it'll help me tie up the web of interconnectedness Very Happy

Edit: In a few cars I found different ways to reach competitive quotients, the Barracuda F-S and the Challenger are two of these. Sim, I sent both builds for both of those cars. In some cars the extra build is a boosted build, in other cars the extra build is simply different (Ex: it has more torque but less horsepower and less weight).

I'll cover these builds later but if you have a car where I deem the extra build is equal, you'd be free to race either build and free to switch between venues.

Would you be so kind as to send me the 66 Nova and the Datsun 510?  I think I'd like to have a go with them too.

Also, where are you standing on the MG B?  I thought it was only a 2 seater, but I actually don't know.  I also remember you saying you were ixnaying the  71 skyline GT-R for some reason, but I actually thought that was a 4 seater.  Just curious on those.

Good to know.

Yesterday I got a 2:39.3 at Road America with the Escort.  That's the best so far with the new build, but it was all sloppy, so.... I can probably do better eventually.

SAWEEEEEET!!

Thank you!!

I ran the 510 today at Atlanta, Sunset and American and it feels BETTER than it was.  It still was slower than some of the other current build of cars (escort and cortina), for me.   But the thing is smooth and easy to handle.  I'm sure someone could drive it faster than I did.

Atlanta: 1:48.8
America: 2:43.9
Sunset: 1:56.0

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

I didn't know there was a second 69 Camaro in the game.  Huh.

And just out of curiousity, it looks like you changed the engine on the 65 Mustang.  Could you not get that kind of power from the 289 or you just thought the 351 was better all around and made it more competitive?
