Interesting....
One thing about statistics though, you can make them say whatever you want.
I still feel like I'm driving an american car when I get in my Mustang, most of the parts that I have seen and messed with on my car usually say made in USA, or made in Canada, a few say Mexico. Most of the aftermarket parts I have added are made here, a few that I have bought from Chinese Muscle (American Muscle) are made probably in China.
One thing I notice a lot are people that drive foriegn vehicles tell me their foriegn vehicles are more american than my american car. Interesting enough, those same people also don't know shit about cars.

Agreed. This is a weighted comparison, and I didn't read the whole article to see why they chose the weights that they did. I think the most significant thing to me on this study is that it attempts to take into account the destination of the profits.
Couldn't agree more with you on the people that try and toot their horns about my (insert jap car here) is more american than yours. I knew a lady that bragged about how awesome her Toyota was/is, and when I asked her when the last time she had test driven a car other than a toyota she replied "oh I would NEVER drive anything other than a toyota".

It was certainly a crap-load easier before the global market; before companies spread their proverbial wings and looked for cheaper means of manufacturing and assembly. I look to the founding parent company's roots, as in, where did the company dig-in and call home?
Gotta love the fan boy mentality, right Sorta? It seems the art of the test drive is all but dead. Too many people blindly follow one marque that they won't even try another vehicle, even if another maker's model would suit their needs better than their favorite.
Of course, there's this Internet gem, "Honda. The official car for people who can't think for themselves."
