The moon, closer than usual
Earlier this morning I went outside with my tripod and my 24× zoom lens. Each image best showcases one range (shadows / midtones / highlights) of tone. I shot in raw format to have a few more post-production options in terms of cleaning them though you see what my camera saw, plus some changes in RGB levels but that's about all. Image dimensions are also reduced to a forum friendly size.
I see the moon like this and I can't help but think of the scene in Bruce Almighty when Bruce has already been given the "God" reigns and he pulls the moon closer.

Great pictures! I wanted to see it but the weather had other ideas. I laughed at the Bruce Almighty thing, but it is true, kind of weird seeing it so close

That's so cool! Thanks for the pictures. You know, it's funny. Most of my early memories aren't that vivid, however when I was 3, I remember riding in the car with my Aunt and the moon was huge. I remember thinking it was unusual how big it was in the sky. That's the last time I saw it that big.

HA HA HA. Oh my freakin' God that's too funny! An elephant is larger than the moon. That's news to me.
I took some astronomy classes to scratch off college science requirements and my instructor would ask, "How big is Saturn? It's this big. … How big is the moon? It's this big. … How big is our galaxy? It's this big." He'd hold up his hands forming an 8" × 8" box after each question. His point being that to his students, the best representation he could get for us were pictures that were about 8" square. So sure, if you didn't know any better you'd think our moon was roughly a 1" diameter circle in the sky.
To better convey scale, my instructor would tell us how many earths could fit or how many Pluto's could fit inside of an object. Pluto was the butt of many of my instructor's jokes, as this was before Pluto was nixed as a planet and my instructor was on the "86 it" side of the argument.
