Corvette wanted to copy Porsche in the 60s
So I was perusing Speedtv.com and peeked at the Best Of The Web which I then linked the the Amelia Concours D'Elegance and saw they mentioned a ultra rare and controversial Corvette called the XP-819. Freaking crazy! A REAR engine Vette! So I started a search and found this site with all the Vette Prototypes and Concepts through the years. Check it out kiddos

Re: Corvette wanted to copy Porsche in the 60s
Oh yeah, I have these Corvette books and a few others.
I'd forgotten about many of their (Chevrolet / General Motors) plans because they were trying some weird things on Corvette chassis. Since Corvette is the flagship model it gets all kinds of goodies, first … though it is also the first chassis to experience G.M. prototype ideas.
Corvette was || ← that close to being a (traditional) mid-mount four rotor Wankel. Check out the '72 two rotor (266 CID = 4.36L). The '73 four rotor concept was going to use two of those 266 CID Wankels bolted together. Those are some large Wankels! The RX-7, -8 rotaries are circa 1.3L.
If you read automotive magazines during that time, you'll read articles where they say, "Well, this will be the last piston powered front-engine (really a front mid-mount) Corvette, so here's what we have to say about this final design." Here we are in 2012 and Corvette has mostly always been a front mid-mount design with a piston engine.
--------------------Chapter 2---------------------
Proof that one man's junk is another man's treasure:
Those are assorted other cars wearing C4 Corvette wheels. I first heard about Jetta owners installing "sawblades" from my brother. I was taken aback. C4 owners don't generally want those things. The popular C4 wheel is the A-mold on the later C4 ZR-1 and '96 Grand Sport. I was going to be different and use 1990 ZR-1 wheels on my Stingray (designed similar to last picture, but wider).
I'd definitely take this capability in a Forza-esque game. I wouldn't DO it, though it would be great for other people to do this if they desired.
