Most powerful now, ok.

Is the fastest? I don't see times yet, be curious though.

Yea I hate when that happens... Ferrari wont allow sources to test the performance of the new La Ferrari yet and denied Motor Trend to do just that when they were invited out to test drive the car recently.   McLaren refused to tell what the Nurburg time was when they ran the ring after Porsche set theirs.   I worry that at 4500 pounds that fat girl is fast but very temperamental and Dodge doesnt want to let the numbers come out until conditions are ideal to ensure a better number.   IE "yea it can go fast but you wont be able to do it much if at all most of the time".   Luckily in videeya games conditions tend to be PERFECT so will be neat to see it in a game.

http://www.allpar.com/mopar/hemi/hellcat.html

More specs/details about the engine itself. I had a good friend (JohnnyB), who is a Chevy fan, was wondering what it was that allowed them to get the extra ~50hp out of the motor when compared to the ZR1's motor. Perhaps this will clue him (and others that are curious) in on something.

Anyway, evidently weights are the next thing that are going to be released. I'm hearing just under 4500 pounds. If so, it will be basically equal to the (2013) GT500 in terms of power to weight ratio.

Another interesting thing I see, which was speculated after a teaser image was released, is that this engine uses a MAF sensor, rather than Chrysler's standard speed-density system; that should make the tuners happy.

MAF system is not always better, in fact when you reach higher power levels and or more into competition, the MAF gets ditched in favor of a speed density type system.

I myself am ditching the MAF set-up on my fox body and going SD via Megasquirt.

This new Challenger would have to have launch control minimum to equal the Shelby in a 1/4. As long as the aero is there it should be able to hit a faster speed than the Shelby.

The insiders on Allpar are saying, vehemently, that this is the fastest Mopar ever. (Fastest, not quickest.) The Viper and Charger Daytona currently hold that title with 202mph top speeds.

Evidently, this kitty has been shaved... Wink

BUT, there's also a Hellcat Charger coming, and everyone expects that whatever the Challenger does on the top end, the Charger will best it when it's released...

And I'm not sure that Hellcat will beat the GT in the quarter, but the insiders are saying that the car performs well beyond the level indicated by figures on paper. The biggest limitation with this car will be the tires. Compared the Mustang and Camaro, the Hellcat's are skinny. (Same as they are in Forza, actually.) BUT, Dodge has access to one of the best ESP systems out there via Ferrari, so there may indeed be some trick system there to hold it all together...

Wow...

http://www.allpar.com/news/index.php/2014/07/dodge-hellcat-faster-muscle-car-ever

1/4 Mile in 11.2 seconds @ 125 MPH. (On street tires. 10.8 @ 126 with drag radials.)

(The GT 500 did it in 11.6 @ 125.7; ZL1 did in 12.2.)

Great times, although I'm curious who was driving, certainly not Motor Trend which is where those 11.6 and 12.2 GT500 and ZL1 times are coming from.

I know both those cars are much quicker with proper drivers.

Its nice to see Dodge finally having a top level pony car that can compete with the ZL1 and GT500 though. Seeing how its a supercharged powerplant that already makes 700, I'm sure it will react to parts just like the GT500 does and it won't be long before you see bolt-on versions making 1000+ HP.

MM&FF did it with a 13' GT500, it had full bolt-ons with a fuel system upgrade and made 980 to the wheels. Insane.

Holy shit...

They just released the price. (Well, it got leaked, it wasn't released...)

$59,900...

That's not a lot for that much car.

Those are stock specs, unfortunately I got it with 160k on it and the trans shifts hard, so I can't do too many full throttle starts. Though I wouldn't mind trying to see what she'd do at the local dragstrip. As for a dyno, no clue where any of those are around here!

You have 60K to burn?

Could build something much better for less..... No bias either, same goes for the Shelby.....
