...'cause this thing is FUGLY!
2015 F-150
It does look okay from the side, but the rear, and especially the front end are all jacked up. The interior of the Platinum looks suprisingly cheap and bland, also...

Such a fanboy.......
Honestly man, it doesn't really look much different from the 2014, don't know what the big fuss is about.... Only thing that worries me is no mention of the 6.2 V8. They could just have increased the output on the 5.0 making no need for the 6.2, but who knows.

Yeah, they killed the 6.2L. 5.0L is the top now, and they added a 2.7L EcoBoost motor (why???)...
I don't know what you're saying about being a fan boy, the nose is ugly no matter who you root for. It's like a new Tundra that ran into a wall... From the side, the truck looks similar, I'll agree, but Ford's noses keep getting worse and worse...
And the ass end has so many different lines going on that it doesn't know what it wants to be. (At least on the Platinum.)
Re: It's a good day to be a Ram or GM fan...
Like it or not, it will still most likely outsell GM and Ram.

Cause if there was a Dodge emblem where that blue oval was, your tone would be totally different.
Dodge, Chevy and Ford have used the same front ends on their trucks for many years now........
The Chevy has had the grille bar the seperates the upper and lower headlights forever. Dodge is still clinging to the basic design of the 94' Ram where the headlight/fender portion is significantly lower than the grill/hood secton. Ford still has the 97' F150 style design where the grill is very open/wide, and it has big one piece headlights.
Ford also tried to make the F150's have a similar look to the Super Duties with the vertical grille bars in recent years. Chevy had a short time where their headlights had a downward angle in the 03-06 years. Its funny cause Dodge went to big headlights like the Ford had in the 05-09 years, and now Ford is trying to seperate the headlights like Chevy has been doing LOL
They're all raping eachother's designs; pretty soon we'll have 3 trucks that all look the fucking same that all make the same power....

From that pic, the worst thing I see in the front end is those protruding notches in the headlights. They look out-of-place. Personally, I haven't liked the look of Ford trucks for some time. Great trucks though.

It does kind of resemble the new tundra... I don't think that's a good thing but at the same time it's not as ugly as the tundra either.
I'm not a huge fan of the look of the new silverado. I think they are trying too hard to make the trucks blingy and big looking.
And I agree that none of them have really made any ground shattering changes in the appearance since the early 90's dodges and mid 90 fords. Chevy's have always been really conservative on their design changes from one model to the next. Honestly I'm not sure I could even spot a new from last years model.

You've got some good points.
Ram still has the "big rig" styling, which I love, and is very aerodynamic (lowest drag for a pickup was/still is the '94-'01 Rams.), but some of the new crash test standards are dictating some changes...
GM's styling has been evolutionary, for sure.
Ford's styling not so much. The 97 redesign was a big departure, and more of thier own "big rig" look, then the '04 (ish) redesign went back to a boxy look. Then an evolutionary change to the current model. But this change? It's just an odd pairing of the weird SD ticks with the current F-150...
I also find it funny that while Ram is making their grilles smaller and blocking them off, using other tricks to keep cooling capacity up while lowering aero, Ford is making their trucks look like fish with open mouths. That has got to be impacting their drag coefficients negatively. (GM's kinda maintaining the status-quo are far as that goes.) But, the heavy reliance on turbos means they need that extra cooling. Too bad it will jsut hurt the V8s more, falsely boosting the effectiveness of the turbo-6 engines...

I totally agree that it's not as bad as the Tundra, but it's still bad looking.
The new GMs' looks are growing on me - but they are just not truely competitive with Ram or Ford. The people that cross-shop aren't buying the GMs.
And while we're on the subject of headlights (Tux mentioned it), while I find the design just goofy looking, I am thankful that Ford put the lights lower on the newest SD. I have always loved this about the Rams. It's far, far safer:
It doesn't blind people nearly as badly, as you can still see as far, if not further, with lower headlights due to aiming regulations which dictate where the light must be at a given distance. If the light starts off higher, it must be aimed down at a steeper angle to meet that requirement. Meaning it won't shine as far down the road as one that is lower to begin with and aimed down only slightly.
Also, these lights are higher than most mirrors on most cars, so when one is behind you, or you're passing one, you get blinded. It sucks. GM is the WORST about this. And, when bros jack up their rigs, they "forget" to adjust the lights accordingly... It's terrible.

I don't put a lot of merit in these awards, it really depends on who did it and what the competition was that year. But it's good for marketing I suppose...

THIS! I'll take one of the new ones with the 470 HP 6.4L, thank you... And I like the blue, but I think I'd go with white if I actually bought one...
Re: It's a good day to be a Ram or GM fan...
Gotta wonder if the new F-150 was included in that competition? If so, that's a big win for GM... If not, well, it doesn't mean as much.
Ya know, typically the manufactures release their products (especially trucks) in different years, just so they can get more awards and press.
Take for instance Motor Trend's TOYT - it's limited to all-new or significantly revised/updated models. So, if Manufacturer X releases a truck this year, but no other do, then they don't have to worry about competition from their biggest rivals for that award. The next year, Manufacturer Y steps up and releases a new rig, but if it wins it doesn't say jack about the Man. X truck...
That's why so many people made a big deal out of Ram winning 2 in a row, and why it has never happened before. Typically, manufacturers don't actively update their current models, they just keep working on the next model for 4-5 years later... So, take those awards as they come, some are just for show. Others, like the TAWA TOTexas awards are better to look at, since they typically look at current models from all manufacturers, not just "new" models...

Re: It's a good day to be a Ram or GM fan...
It means nothing Sim.... You RARELY see the big three come out with an all new model on the same year. The past couple decades they know if they are on a "by themselves" model release then the TOTY is a lock. The TOTY award is for new models only.

Re: It's a good day to be a Ram or GM fan...
Right, which is why no one had won it consecutively before. GM will likely get it this year, Ford in CY15, and Ram CY16.
But, Ram did beat out some good competitors in both cases, so...
But, like I said, awards like the Truck of Texas, which aren't limited to new vehicles, are a little more indicative of who's leading the way.

Re: It's a good day to be a Ram or GM fan...
Also, did you know that the 2014 Power Wagon will not only be available with the 6.4L, but also with MDS? That's just awesome...
Re: It's a good day to be a Ram or GM fan...
Actually I dont want it with the Hemi..... Its to gutless compared to a Diesel. I know they dont offer a Cummins PW but you can build one soops easy and Id rather have K.O.R.E. lift anyways! This was snapped after the truck finished podium at the Baja 1000 then drove back the LA.
As far as Ford vs Dodge well Ill take the truck on the right thank you!

Okay, here it is in more detail:
The ass-end looks like an uglier version of the Durango...
And the interior is clearly from a mid-90s Mustang...
