Porsche returns

Tux, 5/22 will be an interesting day. Do you start the G-A series prior and figure a way to slip Porsche in later? Do you hold off until Porsche gets here? Either way, I can't wait! I'm so glad this iconic marque will be making a return to the Forza franchise.

I don't know the details of how they got the brand. Maybe the deal E.A. had with Porsche really did end earlier this year? All I know is, we have Porsche baby!

That's a tough call. We'll have to wait and see. I am almost done with final builds. I may wait, or I may allow people that want to run the GT3 to switch from the RUF to the Porsche build that I would complete when it releases.

I'm stoked but it kinda sucks that one of the two cars they show in the announcement is the Boxter.... couldn't show something else? lol

I definitely love this announcement for the reason I've made clear on FM.net. Forza Motorsport is a game about upgrading cars. We were given RUF, a company who upgrades Porsche cars, in a game to upgrade … Uhhm, excuse me!? I enjoy starting with base model cars and going up from there. When we start with cars which were already upped from a manufacturer, there's not much more up to go.

To apply this to your Grand-Am series: the Porsche 911 GT3 will start with less performance index (it'll at least be heavier and less powerful) than its corresponding RUF. Thus enabling you more of a finagle factor in equalizing its build to your other Grand-Am builds.

Less than 168 hours remain until the Porsche expansion is released. Thursday is our qualifying, Friday is our race. This weekend we should pass the time watching NASCAR, Trans-Am, other race venues and various other sporting events. We then have all of Monday and the first few hours of Tuesday before we see Porsche (again). YAY!

I'm very interested in what cars are going to make an appearance in a June pack. That's not officially summer so I don't expect the Viper to be released at that time though who really knows?

Am I the only one that feels ripped off by having to pay $20 (or 15 if VIP) for cars that should have been in the game in the first place, especially since I've already spent 100+ on Forza 3.1?

You're definitely not the only one. Look at Turn 10's FB page or the FM.net forums.

My best guess is that Electronic Arts didn't relinquish their hold on Porsche and that Turn 10 Studios/Microsoft Game Studios had to pay E.A. some type of agreement fee. I'm wondering if the T10 crew told E.A. something to this effect, "We'll pay you _____ amount from our sales if you allow us to re-instate Porsche." I also wonder if Turn 10 gave VIP customers the discount at a hit to their own pockets? Meaning, what if $15 from every purchase went to E.A. and the $5 Turn 10 discounted to us, was Turn 10's cut?

Fortunately/unfortunately (however you choose to look at it) it's a business. Business revolves around money and licensing.

Something is certainly screwy. You can't even download a demo car. Which means I see a whole lot of Jetta's online now...
