Other people are assholes
Happened last night, I had the right away driving straight through the intersection with a green light, oncoming driver in an F150 decided he was going to turn in front of me mid-interesection. Obviously I hit him....
I'm physically ok, but I'm pretty sad right now......

That sucks dude! Glad you're ok. At the end of the day, it's just a machine, but I hear you. Don't get me started on other drivers in this country. It's despicable. Did the A-hole apologize?

Re: Other people are assholes
Damn, Stalker, that sucks. I hope you made sure to get witnesses and such. Or that there was a camera at that intersection.
I had a guy do a half-drunken burnout backwards out of his parking spot at a restaurant a few years back.
Dumb ass tried to blame it on me. I was in the main lane into and out of a shopping center that this dude backed into. I even showed him his fresh rubber marks. He tried to say that because it was his stinger (on his receiver) that hit, that his frame was bent.
Anyway, he was on a date, on the clock, in a company truck, and drinking - but he worked for an oil company that had plenty of good lawyers. If it had not been for the witnesses we got, my insurance company told me they would have likely been forced to agree to more responsibilty. (For some reason, the judge thought I was partially responsible. The insurnace company did not, so they just wrote it off.) Anyway, yeah, that stuff sucks.
On a slightly better note, the car looks to be repairable. The little bit of "frame" damage you have at the front can be repaired, and panels and bumpers are easy to replace. Hopefully you'll have it fixed and good-as-new soon!

Re: Other people are assholes
Good news is that I did have a witness who already spoke with the County Sheriffs and the other driver's insurance company. He was issued a citation for failure to yield, so I'm assuming he admitted fault.
As far as fixing it, I don't know. If the insurance company totals it, I can tryo to push to have it fixed, but I don't know how much of a hassle it will be. The other issue is even if I buy it back, I live in a community with an association and they won't let me have a wrecked vehicle in my driveway. I also don't have room in my garage.
I hope to find out what all happens soon.

Re: Other people are assholes
Ah, HOAs. Fun stuff...
It's not hard to buy it back from the insurance company.
Savannah wrecked her Neon, which they still owed like 5K on. It had only 40K on it, but it is an '05 Neon SXT, nothing too special, so the insurance company totalled it. The insurance company paid $8500 for it, at which point they then bought it back, brought it home, and got it fixed for a total of $3500. Viola - good as new and paid off!
Not sure how many miles you have an yours, but it's hard to find Neons with less than 50K miles, and she really like the car, so it just made too much sense to do it that way. Hopefully, whatever you decide, it will be a solution you're happy with.

Re: Other people are assholes
I'll admit, I lol'd at the title before I opened it, then got sad. That's a shitty deal man. If you want, I can move the Blazer out of my garage and you can store the Stang in my garage if you want. Hell, I'll even turn some bolts to get it going again. Unfortunately, it's all I can offer other than my apologies it had to happen to such a pretty car.

Re: Other people are assholes
Thanks guys
The engine and suspension I don't think were damaged at all, it didn't leak any fluids and I think once I pull the fender off and pry the radiator off the accesories, I could probably drive it. I know it appears repairable, but I doubt the insurance company will feel the same way. Like I said too, I don't have the space to keep the car in its current state.
I would consider upgrading, but thats why I have my 90 LX, I really was about to start working on that one within the next couple months.
The other thing I'm worried about is that the insurance company is just going to see that its a 180K+ mile base model 2001 Mustang, and then not give me shit for it. Damn thing ran perfect, had zero issues, all the interior was in excellent shape and nothing was broken. Plus all the custom stuff on it, the hood, wheels, suspension, the paint was in excellent shape too.

That's a raw deal. I'm with Tux, U.S. drivers are abhorrent. Mouth breathers, right dude? Did you have airbag deployment? On many of today's cars that's all it takes for insurance companies to total a higher mileage car.
Does anyone have a friend who works for Copart (or a Copart-esque business)? They'd probably have ideas on what you could do with your car from this point forward.

Re: Other people are assholes
Super shitty...HOA just puts salt right into the wound.
Hopefully its salvageable... if not, well maybe you need a little Mach 1 or Terminator loving.
Or turn it into a Lotus 7 replica...

Stalker,
That just sucks ass one of ny favorite Stang body styles. Glad you came out unscathed.
Anyway to get the sucker into the backyard. Outta neighbors sight, possibly outta mind. Wish I had some relation living out that way to help ya out with storage. I think I would take the totaled payout and buy it back and go ahead and get it repaired. Sorry for all the anguish.

Unibody huh? This one isn't, anymore.StalkerStang wrote:They are …
This was a recent collision in Colma (just south of S.F.) that killed two occupants.
And speaking of 4×4 Mustangs- Stalker, wasn't the Bronco originally built on a shortened Mustang chassis? That's if my memory is working at the moment. If so, then viola! There's your 4 wheel drive Mustang.
