"Johnny Oh" dropping gears and intentionally making the car spin was awesome; I remember watching that race. Good call on his part as the spin converted kinetic energy into other energies before the car hit the barricade, making the barricade contact softer than a head-on.

There's more story here than the 10 1/2 minutes showcased in this video segment. I agree, Jorg was too aggressive toward Jan and the C6 there at the end. For most of that race it was clear the Corvette was faster around the course. The Porsche drivers were great at blocking and using traffic as picks. Jan finally had enough and bumped the Porsche going into turn 11 on their last lap. That was great racing which echoes the saying, "It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye … and then it becomes fun you can't see." It went full hilt.

wow that porsche driver pushed the vette off the track a bunch of times and blocked that whole last part of the race. I thought blocking was illegal in ALMS? anyway to me the porsche had the bump coming... you can't expect to hold a car back that is that much faster for that long or keep pushing them off the track.

I think at the time ALMS needed the publicity Sorta and most likely decided that a penalty handed down after an epic finish like that would hurt this a bit. Its dirty but I personally dont think it warranted any need for penalties. Both were racing on the ragged edge lap after lap and it showed. Verbal warnings I bet were handed out though at the next drivers meeting!

Both drivers were suspended for one race if I remember correctly.

Split races considered for 2014 season. With a bunch of cars now assembled as one unit they'll easily fill those shorter and/or more narrow tracks. A Saturday race and a Sunday race for those venues makes sense to me.

Yea 70 cars or more on Leguna Seca sounds like it would be a bit of a bitch so splitting it up makes sense.

They might have that many in Continental...but they're a lot smaller.

The lead Prototype (P) class, will combine GRAND-AM’s Daytona Prototypes with the ALMS’ P2 and DeltaWing cars, while the Prototype Challenge (PC) class will be the same as the current ALMS class structure.

The GT Le Mans (GTLM) will still consist of the ALMS’ current GT class, and the GT Daytona (GTD) class will us GRAND-AM’s current GT class as well as the ALMS’ current GTC class.

Finally the GX class will be the same as the current GRAND-AM structure, allowing for prototype technologies, like the Mazda6 diesels currently in competition.

Above pulled from here.

And if you're a visual person:

Summary with personal notes.
ALMS P1 in terms of United SportsCar Racing is no more. Damn it!
ALMS P2, Daytona Prototypes, and the flying penis will become a class. How will these different builds become balanced?
ALMS LMPC will remain untouched. Meh. I'm 50/50 on this one.
ALMS GT will remain untouched. Suh-weet!
Grand-Am's GT and ALMS' GTC are blending. So Grand-Am GT will remain the same except with a flotilla of Porsches added.
GX is a carryover from Grand-Am. It allows alternate technology GT cars to race. That's kinda cool.

The more I think about it I feel that the balance will be there. These heads are to smart to screw up too royally in my opinion.
