June DLC is a go

Post  Avanti 63r1025 on Wed May 30, 2012 1:19 am

"JohnIWanna" on forzamotorsport.net will have word on it later this week. Meguiar's will be the sponsor of June's DLC; this ought to be interesting.

ZL1, 1LE, New Boss, new Cobra... I'd settle for one each GM and Ford, frankly some of them should be in there already.

Meguiars? Hmm...so it should be some random old cars, which I would approve of.

1940 Ford De Lux Coupe.... Looks cool. Although I'd trade in all my car packs for just a one Watkins Glen, Spa, Monaco, or Montreal. Smile

I just bought every ALMS GT/GT2 from 2000 to present, there are 17 of them:
  • 1 Panoz (the Esperante, I didn't include the Abruzzi)
  • 1 Ford GT Mk7
  • 1 Viper (Cindy Lux's car is of equal P.I. though raced in Speed W.C.)
  • 1 Corvette C6.R
  • 1 Jaguar RSR XKR GT
  • 1 BMW E46 M3 (didn't count #2 car though it's a possibility)
  • 1 BMW E92 M3 (didn't count the Art Car though it's a possibility)
  • 4 Porsche 911 GT3-RSR (other Porsches race in other venues)
  • 1 Lambo. LP560-4
  • 1 Fer. 458 Italia (car name & number conflicts with the 2006 Risi F430)
  • 4 Fer. 430 GT
Each of these cars competed in the lower ALMS GT class at some point in the 2000s.

Of notable absence is a representation of the Ferrari 360 and one of the following: A) the other team cars [2 Robertson Racing Ford GTs, 2 BMWs, 2 'Vettes, etc,] B) drop-down menus to change number in the title, or C) the ability to create a race car from its street variant. The good news is, digital racers can choose whichever car they like and won't have to worry about the electrical gremlins of the Jaguar, the same budgetary constraints as the Robertsons, etc.

Sadly the Lux Mopar Viper is a bit inferior to the likes of the 911s, Vettes and Ferraris but there are tuning options so possibly through tuning the build a bit higher than the others then all will even out. We would need to get Tux, Ceet and myself to see just how much help it would need. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a ALMS series!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think they are a bit more accessible and user friendly than the Rolex cars, especially with a decent tune and the downforce turned all the way up. The aero on the Lambo, or 911 glue them to the road and they are very forgiving. I think we should do some serious testing in some of these cars and see how much fun it could be. Also Nascars! And a ST/GTS series! And a classic Trans Am series! And... And... And... And... errr shit so many awesome ideas so lil time until FM5

I believe Turn 10 made a mistake in this regard. The Viper for ALMS is the #11 Primetime Viper. The #2 Viper is of equal P.I. to the Primetime car though the #2 Viper primarily raced in World Challenge. World Challenge cars are more restricted than ALMS GT2 cars and are less capable. The #2 Viper should be rated lower in R3, closer to the #66 Porsche 911. To see other World Challenge cars, pop in your Forza 2 or Forza 3 game disc; they were rated high in S class (Peter Cunningham's NSX) to low in R3 class (Phil McClure's ZO6, Michael Galati's S4, etc.)

After having read this, http://www.cindilux.com/about-cindi/career-highlights I believe what happened was Turn 10 aesthetically modeled the #2 Viper to match World Challenge GT, though in 2007 the car did race at Mid-Ohio for the ALMS in GT2. Turn 10 gave the GT2 specifications and capabilities to the #2 car, and that's why both Vipers have matching P.I.

Regardless of any Turn 10 oversight, there are a few GT2 class cars rated in the 730s compared to 750s and 760s for the rest of the field. True, the Viper has more customization abilities though they're all in power. My view is, screw the P.I. rating, give each car the race brake upgrade and see what the drivers can wring out of their car. Use air restrictors to balance the field after each race.
