'nuff said.

How I arrived at that decimal: I started at pi, then × 2. At least I started with a full circle. I say we haven't received Forza 4, and we sure as Hell aren't past Forza 6. Then I × by different fractions to arrive in this (4 > n > 3) ballpark. Turns out my answer is = 9/16 × pi × 2.

I remember the pre-race lobby discussion when I mouthed off about the Alps track showcasing the game's new image-based lighting … had you guys laughing. Very Happy

At least if this was Forza PI it would be delicious... Though I'd eat 9/16 of a pie, as long as it's not sock or peach. Don't really care for the taste of either of those. Mmm, PI.

If you round up, you still end up with Forza 4. Just sayin'...

And who doesn't like Peach Pie, what the hell is wrong with you Rem?! We should revoke your citizenship and give to some migrant worker who actually enjoys the finer things this country has to offer...

On another note, who would have thought that Canadians could be so hot!? Seriously, Shania = crush.

Agreed without a doubt. This game we're playing is the fourth in a series to come from Turn 10 Studios. Where I get off calling it "not quite Forza 4" is in the game's features and the progress (or not) of the series.

Look at the jump from Forza Motorsport to Forza Motorsport 2. Many features were added, though some got removed (recall drivatars?). I credit the shift from XBox to XBox 360 for a majority of these improvements. Forza 2 is definitely Forza 2 to me.

Next, have a look at the bridge between Forza Motorsport 2 and Forza Motorsport 3. This to me was the largest leap in improvement, though again items were dropped. There were enough improvements over Forza Motorsport 2: physics, customization (sway bars split from suspension, valves split from engine), the introduction of a storefront, and more, for me to warrant calling it Forza Motorsport 3.

Now look at the bridge between Forza Motorsport 3 and Forza Motorsport 4. To which I say, "What bridge? The foot bridge over a creek through which a toddler could wade?” There just aren't enough improvements present for me to agree with what Turn 10 calls Forza Motorsport 4. Calling it 3.141 is just unkind so I wanted to find a fraction of 2pi higher in the range between 3 and 4. It turns out that 9/16 of 2pi is close to what I’ve called it before: Forza 3 3/5.

The best features I see in this version of Forza Motorsport are: image-based lighting and modeling the solid rear axle (previous versions saw all cars modeled with independent rear suspensions). These are welcome improvements and I hope what’s learned carries over to whatever game Turn 10 comes out with next.

There are some features I feel divided about: wheels and tires are such categories. In regard to wheels, being able to reduce diameter one or two sizes would be helpful, especially if other trim levels of the same make/model come with smaller sizes. Everything else in the wheels category is acceptable though there is still room for improvement.

Forza 4 does have more tire width options and I like that. However, for cars which cover a wide spread, Turn 10 had to skip sizes; I’m not a fan. Also, I am not pleased about something which carried over from Forza Motorsport 3; one tire brand. I enjoyed the brand choices a la Forza Motorsport 2 and would like to see them further develop this. The varying brands enabled subtle changes in performance index because each brand performed differently.

I just hope new hardware comes out before another iteration of Forza Motorsport, even if we must wait two and a half years from now to get that. I’ll wait a little while longer for something markedly better than what is available today.

Yeah the difference just isn't that good. I could do without the stupid AutoVista, and without having 2, 3, 4, or 5 of the same exact car having different paint jobs and therefore being different cars. And all so that we could tune a car in a race lobby, have damage actually show when online (frequently it doesn't show but the car reflects the damage done), and other such small tweaks like that.

The funny thing is I rented Forza 4 a couple times just to check it out. The ONLY reason I bought it was to run this series. Black Friday came along and it was $27, I pretty much had to. I can't say with any certainty that I'll be buying the next title, unless the price is right again and there's a damn good reason. You guys should feel special, after Forza 3 had been out for a couple months, I swore off the title entirely. I just happened to get a message from someone on Live asking if I was running this series, and it went from there.

From the announcements I've seen so far (partnership with Calspan, multiple tire compounds, open wheel, drivatars, and more to come) I will readily say we are getting Forza Motorsport 5. It is a solid 5. In fact, I might even jump the gun and say it's Forza 13/16 × pi × 2 or 5.1050880620834140125017954978292

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. I'm hopeful that it's good, but what happened to the forum here? It looks different. Bread.
